Bathroom Countertop Installation

Installation of a bathroom countertop can be made easy if you follow a systematic procedure. There are several options of bathroom countertops you can consider before you begin to install them in your bathrooms. The laminate countertops are less in price and are relatively easy to install. In addition solid surface counters such as granite, quartz; corian and marble are much more expensive and may take time to get installed.

Amongst these, the laminate countertops would be a wise choice if you want to install a bathroom counter yourself. As for installation of a solid surface counter yourself, you should consider a marble or a corian counter and also require unique tools and managing processes. These countertops are provided in classic colours and designs and give your bathroom a luxurious feel to it. The necessary things required to perform proper installation of bathroom vanity countertops includes a measuring tape, your specific countertop, sink, faucet, drill, 3/8 inch but, jigsaw, level, silicone caulk and a 2×4 wooden board.

The foremost thing you are required to do is to measure the cabinet and find out the size of countertop you are required to purchase. The size of the countertop should be about one inch on all sides. Next you need to choose your specific countertop, sink and faucet you wish to install. It is advisable to use a self-rimming or top-mounted sink if you are installing a laminate countertop. Before installation, the first thing you are supposed to do is to turn off the water and remove the plumbing connection.

Secondly, you are to map out the shape of your sink onto a special craft paper and make an outline. Next, tape the outline in position onto the new counter with a hole of about one inch narrower on all sides of the sink. This enables the sink to lay steadily on the countertop outline and have a fixed position. After positioning, you should make a hole using your 3/8 inch bit inside the sink and slot the jigsaw blade into the drilled hole. With this, you can cut out the hole for the sink and position the sink in the counter.

You are then required to apply a drop of caulk along the top edge of the vanity and position the countertop on the vanity for a steady level. After this, you should screw the vanity with the blocks and brackets positioned below and caulk next to the top of the backsplash. Installation of the faucet onto the sink comes after this and enables you to seat the sink into the opening of the counter. It is also necessary to caulk around the edges of the sink in order to supply a good water seal and to strengthen the position of the sink.

The last step involves reconnecting the plumbing area and attaching the pop-up drain along the countertop. After the end of the installation process, turn on the water to check its running and also look carefully if there are any visible leaks.
